Collection: Jewish Heritage Video Collection 87 films

The Jewish Heritage Video Collection (JHVC), conceived and launched by the Charles H. Revson Foundation in 1995, is an innovative video library and series of courses designed to explore Jewish history and culture through film. Its library includes more than 250 outstanding features and documentaries, television and children’s programs with significant Jewish content, many of them not otherwise available to the general public. Its courses, written by leading scholars, examine key topics in Jewish life, from Yiddish culture and the immigrant experience, to American Jewish identity, to the culture and people of Israel.

The JHVC is available at more than 200 sites in 39 states and the District of Columbia, including 63 colleges and universities, 57 JCCs, 33 Federations and bureaus of Jewish education, 34 synagogues, and 14 other institutions such as libraries and museums.

A new partnership with the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival (SFJFF) will integrate the resources of the JHVC and SFJFF in an innovative web presence that will be a central online address for Jewish film. The new site will be launched in 2009 with the support of the Revson Foundation and Steven Spielberg’s Righteous Persons Foundation. In addition to the extensive and continually expanding SFJFF and JHVC film listings, the site will offer the JHVC’s in-depth educational material and opportunities for connecting people and building community around the topics of Jewish film and Jewish culture.

Until the new site is online in 2009, for more information about the Jewish Heritage Video Collection, go to www.jhvc.org.
